Because this is a limestone chat, it will help prevent the growth of pesky weeds helping you maintain that beautiful look long after you install it in your yard. Chat is a material that can be used on its own or can be used for a base for patio pavers or flagstone. It is a finely crushed rock that provides drainage but will also allow for leveling. This is a 1/4″ minus grey pathway chat that can vary in color where is it dark grey most of the time but can sometimes have a rosy tone.
When this material is delivered, the finely crushed rock makes it appear powdery. This is normal for this product. After the product is placed, compacted and wet down, the finer material compacts down and the bigger rock stays on top.
Although this material compacts well, it is not the best product for creating parking areas on its own. You can use this as a base for controlling weeds and add any fractured 3/4″, 1″, or 1.5″ gravel to the top.
Please Note– We recommend that you look at this product in person before ordering. None of our rock products are “washed” but they are screened to size and they could be dusty or contain some fines. This is natural rock and colors can fluctuate slightly across different veins in the mountain. Over time, even the same rock source may have slightly different colors.
